Biographical Information

I have lived in Castle Hill, with my wife, Effie, since 1987. We have an adult son and a daughter. I am a retired civil servant, having worked for most of my career with the Department for International Development both in the UK and overseas. Having obtained degrees in Economics, I worked in the fields of economics, finance governance, programme management and strategic planning.

In the local community, I spent eleven years as a Governor of Mascalls School, Chair the Brenchley and Matfield Parish Archive Group and have been heavily involved in development of a Parish Plan.

I think the key challenges for the Parish are how to accommodate pressures for development without undermining the attractiveness of our natural and built environment and how to tackle problems we already have, such as traffic and housing for those who cannot afford high prices. I would also like to see us strengthen the sense of community, including for Brenchley and Matfield together.
