Local Walks

The area around our villages is criss-crossed by public footpaths which will take you on beautiful country walks through farmland, orchards and woodland.

All public footpaths in the area are shown on the large-scale Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 136 (obtainable from book shops). You can see an online version of that map here. Footpaths are shown as dotted red lines. The dotted lines with red diamonds on them indicate the local sections of the High Weald Landscape Trail (click here for more information).

Two local residents have compiled five circular walks which start and finish at the centre of one or other of the villages. Previews of these walks are shown below. Click on the maps to enlarge them.

Maps and guides for these walks can be bought at the Brenchley or Matfield Post Offices. To view the maps and guides online, click on the local walks button below. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these. If you do not have this installed on your computer, you can download it by clicking on the Adobe link at the bottom of this page).
