Audited Annual Return for 2016/17
Local councils must complete an annual return summarising their financial activities at the end of each financial year. The Brenchley PC Return for the year ended 31 March 2017 has been approved by the Council and was audited by the external auditor on 24 August 2017.

Parish Council Strategy for Development in the Parish
In June 2017, the Council approved a policy statement on planning and development within the Parish. This was produced to coincide with the preparation of a new Local Plan by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, which will guide planning and development in the borough, up to 2033.

Code of Conduct
Every local authority is required to adopt a Code of Conduct that sets out rules governing the behaviour of its members. The current Model Code of Conduct was issued by the government in 2007 and this new Code was adopted by Brenchley Parish Council at its meeting on 1 October 2007.

Standing Orders
Parish councils are required by law to make certain basic provisions for the conduct of meetings and decision making. Most councils adopt more comprehensive Standing Orders to provide sound and sensible procedures which will govern the way they undertake business. Having reviewed its own arrangements, Brenchley Parish Council adopted revised Standing Orders at its meeting on 17 February 2009.

Financial Regulations
Councils are required by law to have Financial Regulations which set out how council finances are to be managed. Having reviewed its own arrangements, Brenchley Parish Council adopted revised Financial Regulations at its meeting on 17 February 2009.

Annual Returns
Local councils must complete an annual return summarising their financial activities at the end of each financial year. The Brenchley PC Return for the year ended 31 March 2016 has been approved by the Council, certified by internal and external auditors and sent to the Audit Commission for final approval.

Matfield Pavilion
The pavilion on Matfield Village Green was destroyed by fire in September 2011. The Parish Council rebuilt the pavilion which was completed in March 2014 and officially opened in June. The initial policy document on the proposed rebuilding (March 2012) and the Final Report (June 2014) can be viewed by clicking on the links below. The Final Report includes details of the cost of the rebuilding project.

This document was produced by the Parish Council in early 2012 in order to set out the policy and principles which would govern the propsed rebuilding of the pavilion. It was included in the material submitted to Sport England as part of an application for lottery funding under Sport England's 'Inspired Facilities' programme - which resulted in an award of £50,000.

Procedure for Co-option
When a Parish Councillor stands down before the end of the four year term for which they were elected, a by-election must be held if ten electors in the Parish call for one. Otherwise, the Council may co-opt a new councillor. Brenchley Parish Council updated its co-option procedure in April 2017.

New Local Plan and Related Issues

On 6 June 2017, Brenchley Parish Council has submitted its comments on the Borough Council's consultation material on the preparation of the new Local Plan. The document can be seen here .

Matfield Green Byelaws
The existing byelaws governing the use of Matfield Village Green date from 1984 and are now out of date. New byelaws are being drawn up but, for the time being, the old regulations remain in force.
