Code of Conduct
Every local authority is required to adopt a Code of Conduct that sets out rules governing the behaviour of its members. The current Model Code of Conduct was issued by the government in 2007 and this new Code was adopted by Brenchley Parish Council at its meeting on 1 October 2007.

Parish councils are required by law to make certain basic provisions for the conduct of meetings and decision making. Most councils adopt more comprehensive Standing Orders to provide sound and sensible procedures which will govern the way they undertake business. Having reviewed its own arrangements, Brenchley Parish Council adopted revised Standing Orders at its meeting on 17 February 2009.

The initial policy document on the proposed rebuilding (March 2012) and the Final Report (June 2014) can be viewed by clicking on the links below. The Final Report includes details of the cost of the rebuilding project.

This document was produced by the Parish Council in early 2012 in order to set out the policy and principles which would govern the propsed rebuilding of the pavilion. It was included in the material submitted to Sport England as part of an application for lottery funding under Sport England's 'Inspired Facilities' programme - which resulted in an award of £50,000.

Procedure for Co-option
When a Parish Councillor stands down before the end of the four year term for which they were elected, a by-election must be held if ten electors in the Parish call for one. Otherwise, the Council may co-opt a new councillor. Brenchley Parish Council updated its co-option procedure in April 2017.
