New Local Plan Consultation

PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS:
TUESDAY 2 MAY TO MONDAY 12 JUNE 2017

Local Plan Issues and Options

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has started work on the preparation of a new Local Plan, which will guide future development in our borough up to the year 2033.

The first stage in this process is the publication of an Issues and Options document, which Tunbridge Wells Borough Councl (TWBC) is consulting on for six weeks, from Tuesday 2 May 2017 to Monday 12 June 2017. This consultation document sets out initial thoughts about what a new Local Plan should contain and the issues it should address. There is a set of questions that run throughout the Issues and Options document and it also sets out a number of possible options for where and how the future growth of the borough might be located.

This is an opportunity for you to have a say in the preparation of a new Local Plan.

Views are invited on the following consultation documents:

~ Tunbridge Wells Borough Local Plan: Issues and Options
~ Interim Sustainability Appraisal

The Issues and Options document is supported by a number of evidence studies, which can be viewed at www.tunbridgewells.gov.uk/localplan under the heading ‘Evidence Studies’.

You can read and respond to the consultation documents directly online at http://consult.tunbridgewells.gov.uk or you can download the documents and accompanying response forms at www.tunbridgewells.gov.uk/localplan.

Second Call for Sites

TWBC will also be running a second ‘Call for Sites’ alongside this consultation. The Council is inviting landowners, developers and individuals to submit details of sites they wish to be considered for housing and economic development uses within Tunbridge Wells borough. Details of how to submit sites for consideration are also available on the Local Plan web page under the heading ‘Call for Sites’.

Draft Landscape Character Assessment Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The Council is also consulting on the above draft SPD. Consultation runs for six weeks, from Tuesday 02 May 2017 to Monday 12 June 2017. The previous Landscape Character Area Assessment was published in 2002 and was updated in 2011 to ensure consistency following changes in guidance and policy. The 2011 review updated policy and contextual information but the landscape assessments and objectives sections remained unchanged. This draft 2017 revision is based on new evidence, consultation and field survey.
