Parish Council Report - April

Casual Vacancy for Parish Councillor
Following the resignation of Ian McEwen, who has made an outstanding and invaluable contribution to the work of the council over the past nine years, a vacancy has arisen on the Parish Council. The Council is seeking to co-opt a new councillor and the co-option will be made at the council meeting on 8th May, using the procedure outlined on the PC documents page of this website and reproduced here .

Planning notifications
The discontinuation of notices by post to neighbouring properties to those submitting planning applications came into effect on 1st April. Notices will still be posted at the property and in the local newspaper. Residents can also sign up for email notification of planning applications on the TWBC website. To keep the community informed, new planning applications will be posted on the parish website every two weeks and the Parish Council will also ask BandMNews to email the information. Please contact BandMNews@aol.com if you would like to receive these emails.

Issues and Options Document

TWBC is now consulting on an Issues and Options document, which sets out its initial thoughts on what the new Local Plan should contain and the issues it should address. The consultation period runs from 2nd May to 12th June 2017 and TWBC encourages all residents to take part in the consultation process.

TWBC has the challenge of delivering significantly more homes than in previous Local Plans and needs to decide whether the villages could make a greater contribution to housing provision. As part of the consultation process residents will be asked for their views on five options for delivering the number of houses required by Central Government.

The consultation document and supporting information can be found at http://consult.tunbridgewells.gov.uk. Responses can be filed electronically or posted to TWBC. Paper copies of the response form can be requested on 01892 554056.

For further information, see also the box on the home page of this website. Several public exhibitions will be held in May, with one of the exhibitions being held in the parish on Wednesday 10th May, from 4pm to 7pm, in Matfield Pavilion.

Second Call for Sites
The first ‘Call for Sites’ ran from 9th February to 18th September 2016, providing an early opportunity to put forward potential development sites to the Council for consideration in the new Local Plan. TWBC is now running a second Call for Sites from 2nd May to 12th June 2017 and further details can be found on the TWBC website.
