   SE Rail Consultation

The Government is seeking bids for the South Eastern Rail franchise, which will be renewed in December 2018. The current operator has held the franchise since April 2006, which was extended in 2014. The government is undertaking a public consultation to hear views on current and future services, which ends on 30th June 2017.

South Eastern Rail is the fourth largest network in the country, carrying 500,000 passengers daily. 90% of the journeys are to and from London and 65% of all journeys take place during peak times.

The clear and attractive consultation document contains questions that are relevant to users in this parish, particularly those who commute. Question 4 suggests the removal of first class on the busiest routes. Question 12 refers to the reduction of journey times to main destinations by reducing stops at intermediate stations. Question 17 refers to a reduction in the choice of central London destinations.

Users of the network are encouraged to take part in the consultation, either by completing the survey online or by completing and emailing the response form. Comments can also be sent by letter or email.
